Tacoma is a port city in Washington State. Tacoma sits on Washington’s Puget Sound and is only 32 miles from Seattle. Tacoma is also known as the “City of Destiny” because the area was chosen to be the western terminal for the Northern Pacific Railroad. Tacoma got its name after the nearby Mount Rainer which was originally called Mount Tahoma. Tacoma is home to multiple parks, historic buildings or landmarks, and museums. In fact part of the Tacoma School District was the setting for the film 10 Things I Hate About You which starred Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles.
