Life imitates Art, right? Or is it the other way around?
In what would’ve been a normal scene in the TV show he starred in, actor Johnny Lewis allegedly murdered his landlord, her cat and then killed himself. The Sons of Anarchy star was on a downward spiral for the last ten months having been arrested a few times, gone into a Scientology based rehab, jail, then back out on probation.
Police say Catherine Davis, 81, was killed by Lewis around 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 26, after he went back to her home following an altercation with neighbors. Her residence had been ransacked and a dead cat was found inside. When police arrived on scene, Lewis was found dead in the driveway of the home, having fallen on his head from a balcony or roof.
Celebrities who knew the actor took to Twitter to share their thoughts on his murder/suicide:
Nikki Reed – “A reporter broke the news to me about Johnny Lewis during an interview last night. I am so sad and so shocked by what happened. I dreamt about it all night, and I’m sitting here now unable to move this morning. It’s so disturbing, yet so tragic. RIP Johnny.”
Shannon Woodward – “Johnny Lewis, I love you deeply and madly and always. My heart is broken in a million little pieces. I will miss you every day.”
Haylie Duff – “So sad to hear the news about Johnny Lewis. Such a nice and talented guy. RIP.”
Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt was not so shocked about the news and took to Twitter last Thursday morning to say:
“not sure if folks know this yet, but johnny lewis (halfsack) died last night. the sad irony of it happening two days after opie’s death is not lost on me. it was a tragic end for an extremely talented guy, who unfortunately had lost his way. i wish i could say that i was shocked by the events last night, but i was not. i am deeply sorry that an innocent life had to be thrown into his destructive path. yes, it’s day or mourning, but it’s also a day of awareness and gratitude. sadly, some of us carry the message by dying.”
Neighbors reported that Johnny exhibited signs of super human strength on his Wednesday rampage in which he fought two men and ended up murdering his 81 year old landlord. Police are investigating whether Lewis was on any illegal substances and what could’ve caused him to act out so violently.
