Drug rehab in the past probably seemed like a daunting thought. That and when it is portrayed in movies or on television drug rehab is made out to look like some kind of mental institution that is for people that look almost criminal. With drug rehab today that is no longer the case. Drug rehab is much like a vacation, a vacation from drugs and alcohol that is. There is some work involved in drug rehab though. The work that you have to do in drug rehab consists of life changing events so why wouldn’t you want to do the work?

Drug rehab is kind of like a vacation in the sense that you are catered to, designed around, allowed to relax, in a pretty nice place with pretty extensive accommodations getting sober. Drug rehab consists of therapeutic experiences all in the midst of a vacation like setting. Drug rehab begins usually with a physical detox which can be uncomfortable and somewhat scary and thats why drug rehab does its best to make sure you are in a relaxing setting and given the right medication to insinuate a nearly painless detox. Once detox is over drug rehab is like school in a vacation setting like said before. You spend the week days getting all the tools you will need to stay sober for the rest of your life. A daily schedule in drug rehab will be given that will go through what groups and treatments you will have that day. Usually a day of drug rehab is from 8am-3pm.

The groups through out the day at a drug rehab consist of core group, study of addiction classes, women’s and men’s groups, relationship groups, yoga, tai chi, acupuncture, empowerment, and relapse prevention. All of these groups working in coherence with each other can guarantee success if you are willing to stay sober and apply them. Once the day of groups is over you usually be staying in some kind of residential setting where you can do more relaxing and introspective work on yourself. You will also have time to get to know your fellow peers in drug rehab. This is a place where some people can make life long friends. The first few days at a drug rehab are always like your first few days at a new job or new school. You will need some adjustment time of course as does everyone. You will easily be made to feel apart of though  and fall into the routine so you can start benefiting exponentially from drug rehab. Drug rehab seems scary if you have never been but really it is a loving place where you can learn more than you ever have before. You aren’t alone in a drug rehab either. There are so many people there with you going through the same things. You will find this experience to be one that changes your life if you allow it. It isnt like a mental institution and it isnt like jail. Its a place where the staff wants the best for you and a place where your peers will love you until you learn to love yourself. Life will be good again.

Drug rehab is like a welcome to life sign.
