Oh, the dreaded Monday. You start thinking about Monday probably around Sunday afternoon and before you know it is Sunday night and you have to hit the hay to wake up bright and early for work! If Mondays are as awful for you as there are for me (not saying that I am not grateful to be alive, but let’s be real here, it’s Monday) then you need to find ways to make Monday less awful. Here are 5 ways to make Monday less awful:

1. ) Give yourself something to look forward to: Whether it is really good cup of coffee instead of the office’s generic cup o’ joe, or it is Krispy Kreme donuts. Just give yourself something to look forward to. Maybe for the ladies it would be a new outfit. Whatever it is that excites you, put it somewhere in your Monday and it is guaranteed to be less awful.

2.)  Do a music trivia or game for prizes with coworkers when you get there: Monday morning music trivia or game for prizes. The prizes could include everything from a free lunch to a few extra bucks in your paycheck this week. This not only gets your brain moving but also energizes you and makes Monday way less awful than normal.

3.) Pot Luck Breakfast: Have everyone you know bring in some kind of breakfast food item and have a pot luck breakfast on Monday; eggs, bacon, biscuits, muffins, donuts, coffee and more. This usually makes Monday way better than usual and gives you a chance to relax with your coworkers and friends before really starting your day. This could kind of go under the giving yourself something to look forward to if you look forward to delicious breakfast foods.

4.) Monday Morning Yoga: If you are the fitness type having a Monday morning yoga routine can not only give you something to look forward too but it also can help you beat the Monday blues. Yoga is a great way to energize and relax at the same time. You may even find yourself able to focus better and best case scenario you may not even need that morning cup of coffee due to getting your blood flowing with yoga. Monday Morning doesn’t have to be awful if you add in a little extra fun routine.

5.) Casual Monday: Waking up and having to put on restricting business clothes can really make Monday a drag. If getting to feel more relaxed on Monday makes it better for you then maybe talk about having a casual Monday at your place of work. If this isn’t possible then I guess you are out of luck. But getting to just throw on jeans and a tshirt on Monday morning instead of those heels and a skirt or that choking tie can really make Monday less awful.

If you want to make Monday less awful the best way to do so if you can’t do any of the things mentioned above is to look at what you are grateful for. Try not to complain, even in your head! And also think about how you GET to go to work. The economy is rough right now. Not everyone has a job. Be lucky you have something to even do on Monday morning and it is guaranteed to not be as awful.
